The Eames Lounge Chair and Ottaman is a mid-century modern design classic, first released in 1956 by husband and wife design duo Charles and Ray Eames- and even after over 50 years of being in production, the reproductions are prohibitively expensive… Until now.
The Mini Eames Lounge Chair by Kevin Spencer is a 1:20 scale miniature and is about 2 inches tall and at just $25 (about £17) as a full color 3D Print is 1:67th the cost of a full scale reproduction. Do the maths, it’s a bargain- and you can hold a piece of design history in the palm of your hand.
The Mini Eames Lounge Chair is made possible by using “rapid pro-typing techniques”, allowing for exceptional detail- even on such a small scale. The lounge chair is accompanied by its matching Ottoman, and features 3 molded plywood shells, and armrest, seat pan and backrest- including the grooves and textures visible in the original, full scale model. Very clever stuff.
