Traditionally known for its famous wellies, Aigle is a brand I grew up with having being brought up in the French Alps. Most French people will tell you that Aigle is their number one choice when it comes to wellies and raincoats, and rightly so. The brand’s focus lies on the use of innovative design, materials and production techniques in the development of functional and durable clothing.
Although Aigle was founded in 1853, it wasn’t until 2000 that the company expanded overseas, firstly into Japan and America- In 2006 Aigle had 131 shops worldwide. Since then and with increasing efforts in innovation and design – whilst maintaining its functional roots – the brand has flourished. The lookbook for Spring / Summer 2012 is a perfect example of Aigle’s movement into a more technical, Japanese- esque way of design. The photos presented are a nice combination of the aforementioned modern inspirations and the more traditional, – Ralph Lauren like – French, preppy heritage that has cemented the brand.
Who would have thought Aigle would be producing 60-40 parka’s? Not us, but we are very happy that they have arrived.
