Sometimes at The Milltown, we get very excited about a new brand. This is one of those moments- we bring you COMMON. More specifically, we bring you the stand-out piece from their maiden Collection, The Sparrow Print Lars Jacket.
After graduating from London College of Fashion and Central Saint Martins respectively and working with both Wooyoungmi and Kanye West, Swedish designers Saif Bakir and Emma Hedlund started out on their own project with Common. Bakir and Hedlund’s multi-cultural background and the decision of placing production in Scandinavia are central to the emerging brand. For the debut collection, House of Sparrow, inspiration is taken from sub-cultural movements in Britain in the 70s and 80s as well as elegant officers in wartime Europe.
The clean, reversible bomber jacket construction of the Common Lars Jacket is printed with an exceptional sparrow print on one side, with a solid black on the other, making it great for a smart/casual switch. The rest of the collection as a whole is restrained and elegant, with a very calm, confident result.
