We have been obsessed by footwear lately and thought that the Dr. Martens Steed Shoe deserved a mention. Why? Because in our eyes it ticks all the boxes. The Steed Shoe is part of the Dr. Martens ‘Made in England’ range- handcrafted at the unique Cobbs Lane factory in Northamptonshire, which has been producing footwear for the Griggs family since 1901. It is the home of the original Dr. Marten boot and it is a real pleasure to see them producing in England again, almost ten years after moving it’s production to the Far East.
The Steed Shoe- which was released earlier this year- is a lower profile, more streamlined pair of Doc’s- closer in style to this season’s popular derby shoes. It does however still keep all the characteristics of a true pair of Dr. Martens- fantastic durable yet supple leather, classic ‘bouncing’ Airwair cushioned sole (which as DM fans will know is oil, fat, acid, petrol, alkali resistant) and Goodyear welt (sewn and glued).
The Dr. Martens Steed Shoe is therefore the obvious footwear choice; it looks great, feels great, is very comfortable and will only look better with wear. It will also work with just about any outfit you can conjure- so you can’t go wrong. We have both recently purchased a pair (Dave- polished black, Joe- Oxblood Suede) and we’re glad we did- as stock is running out FAST.
If you’re after a pair, head over to the official Dr. Martens shop.
Oi Polloi are also stocking the polished leather models.
