Based out of Tokyo, Japan- Hender Scheme is a progressive purveyor of artisan footwear and leather goods. Designer and owner Ryo Kashiwazaki aims to create products with a balance between “modern” and “craft”. The collections are abstractly themed ranging from footwear, accessories and everyday home-wares allowing Ryo Kashiwazaki to focus on “Shokunin” craftsmanship.
The brand has recently released their SS13 homage collection- offering, as the name suggests, a series of well-known footwear silhouettes that have been reinvented and taken to another level- a level of the highest luxury to be more accurate. Handmade in natural un-dyed leather with feathered edges, and accompanying leather laces- every pair from the homage collection will age beautifully, taking on a unique patina based on each individuals wear.
3 models have been given the premium treatment; The Nike Air force 1, Vans Era, and a classic German Military sneaker. All of which are instantly recognisable in their mass produced form, but no quite so once they have been given the extraordinary Hender Scheme treatment.
They aren’t cheap, but they are very special.
