Last weekend saw the third instalment of Jacket required, a London based, invitation only Menswear trade show. Located in Victoria house, the show comprised of a who’s who of many of the brands we follow, as well as some new faces that we didn’t know so well (and some we’d never heard of). We visited the show with Coggles.com buyer Jake Bancroft, and he told us that this year showed a significant increase in the brands exhibiting and a clear move away from the heritage look for collections. He was spot on- bright colours, bold and crazy prints and a less serious, fun theme all round was on offer from everyone. Whatever you could imagine would not be printed on a shirt, was. And for the most part the results were very exciting.
As we have done in the past, we decided to target the lesser known brands at the show and more often than not, this meant drooling over some exceptional footwear and accessories. Our stand out’s for the show were Brooks, Eastpak x Wood Wood, General Knot Co, Ebbets Field, LVC, PedaLed, Sawa and Croots England all of whom we will be featuring in more detail soon.
The layout of the show was such that it gave the impression of going on and on, with cavern like rooms and spaces all over. A very interesting and refreshing alternative to a large open hall- and one that allowed you to happily converse with all brand easily and openly. The diversity on show was also a great plus- from Croots England producing Traditional, leather goods to Sawa, who are the first to produce sneakers made 100% in Africa.
Overall a fantastic event that showcased a wide but in all cases, high quality selection of menswear from all over the world. We had a great time.
