S.E.H Kelly unequivocally embodies a celebration of the British isles; British manufacturing, materials, techniques, attention to detail- all of it.

Started in 2009 and born out of years of working on Saville row, S.E.H kelly is a brand obsessed by the British textile industry and all the idiosyncrasies that go with it. As they put it “S.E.H Kelly makes garments with the makers of the British Isles. Every aspect of every garment is made with the domestic clothing industry, with steadfast adherence to quality and the sturdiness of British make.”

We at themilltown.com are big fans of the remarkable British textile industry and regardless of where you live in Britain, somewhere close by will more than likely have been involved in it at some point- making it a part of all of our histories. Living in Yorkshire we are well aware of the importance of our region in the development of the British textile industry and moreover we are more than excited to see that it is still going strong with the help of brands such as S.E.H Kelly.

Produced in remarkably small runs, their compact collections are nothing short of stunning. There isn’t a piece from the covetable SS12 collection that we wouldn’t happily wear. The quality of each piece almost brings a tear to the eye- a tear not just because of the products beauty- but because of the story behind every component of every piece- all of it close to home.  Also worth mentioning is their website- its incredible. For 2 Textile fanatics such as ourselves, it is a pleasure to be so well informed about all aspects of production and design; a real breath of fresh air in an industry that can sometimes be a little shy in this area. Our personal favourite touch, other than the factory photos that we will have a look at, is the ‘production run’ note- Subtlety informing us of the rarity of each piece (and when we say rarity, we mean it- every piece has a production runs of less than 10 units!)

Perhaps the most appropriate point to make is that when you wear a piece of their clothing, you will feel special. You cannot ask more than that.
